We were chuffed to be asked to join this year's Hairy Helmet Relay in Derby! Everyone really raves about this event, and having been part of it for the evening, it's easy to see why. It's such a fun run with a brilliant atmosphere. Were we so busy! Thank you to everyone who chose to have their supper with us!
We were back at Staunton Harold today with our friends at Choose Sports events. This time it was for their first Cycle Sportive. Starting in the beautiful Staunton Harold Hall, participants had four distances to choose from; 14K, 40K, 100K and 140K. For those of you who don't know what a Sportive is, I've copied this from the Choose Sports website!
"Sportives are mass-participation timed events, they allow cyclists of all abilities to ride fully signposted routes. A sportive is not a race! Sportives could be likened to the marathons of the cycling world; for example the Ride London event in the UK drew many parallels to the famous London Marathon. It's the taking part that counts, not the fastest time.
Sportives can be a great way of setting a season goal, and with distances for all abilities there is something for everyone.
Sportives normally start and finish in the same place; this creates a great atmosphere, but also makes it far easier logistically for ri...
Tonight was a new one for us as we joined Sharon and Jez at their fab Tannenbaum Campsite. With stunning views over Derbyshire, live music a bar and great food, it was a great way to spend a Saturday evening. We even had our first ever Wolf Hut Drive-thru customer!
It was a very short trip across Burton town for The Wolf Hut today as we joined Burton AC for their annual 10 Mile Run. Thanks to Jaime and the Club for inviting us along, it's great for us to support local events!
We teamed up with our mates at DUFFO Events and Cycle Derby for the Spring Classic Sportive on Sunday. With over 700 people registered for various distances, the event village at Markeaton Park was buzzing. This is a cracking family friendly event with a great atmosphere! We've catered for the Sportive twice before, serving every cyclist with a post-ride meal and a hot drink. It's such a pleasure to meet everyone and chat with some Wolfy regulars! We got lots of great compliments on our food and the service we provide which makes us SMILE! Thanks to everyone involved for making it such a great day.
We returned to Nielsen in Moira on Saturday to join the Porsche Club GB R9 presentation.
Working with Tony and Glen and the team is always a pleasure, and of course we get to meet all the lovely Porsche enthusiasts and see their lovely cars! As guests arrive, they're all treated to hot drinks and one of our delicious breakfast bagels. Nielsen then provide demos of their cleaning products throughout the morning and guests get to try them out on their own cars. Judging by the amount of loaded bags being stashed into cars, this was a pretty successful event.
We're back at Nielsen in August for their next Porsche Club event. See you there Porsche fans!
We returned to Staunton Harold on Sunday to support Choose Sports with their first event of the year, the Staunton Harold Duathlon. Such a stunning location for an event and when the weather is as good as it was on Sunday, you don't hear any complaints! Competitors were loving the course and the conditions. We'll be back here for two more events with Choose Sports in May (Cycle Sportive) and June (Triathlon). Don't miss out on the chance to compete in such beautiful surroundings!
This weekend saw the close of the 2019 CrossFit Open. The Open is comprised of five workouts over five weeks, and it starts with 19.1. Open workouts are identified by their year and the order in which they appear, hence the final workout is 19.5.
We were at CrossFit Mercia in Burton-on-Trent on Friday night for their closing party and on Saturday we took the short trip over to Derby to join the action at CrossFit Deviant.
We love these events... such a great atmosphere, super friendly and simply awesome to watch!
We spent our weekend at Moorways Stadium in Derby, serving spectators of four Football Cup Finals. It was without doubt the windiest day we have ever had in The Wolf Hut. It felt more like we were in a boat than a van! We managed to stay anchored though and serve hundreds of hot drinks and a load of bacon bagels, offering comfort to those who had braved the conditions to watch the match.
Thanks to Derby City Council for inviting us to join the event. Hopefully we'll be there again in the near future!
We spent Saturday and Sunday feeding the cast and crew of a film shoot!
Shot at various locations around Derby, Keep Breathing is a short film about sexual consent. With an intention to educate, Keep Breathing takes a powerful and incisive look at attitudes towards consent and victim blaming. Having read the script, we can't wait to see this film on the big screen!
This was our first film shoot and we loved it. The cast and crew were really lovely and it was great to get so many amazing comments about our food. Apparently our catering is better than the BBC! We'll take that!
We love a Friday evening event, it keeps us out of trouble and out of the pub! Well, almost out of the pub. Last night we had the pleasure of working with Jay at Mill Hill Cask and Coffee in Enderby, Leicester... and yes it does torture us when customers come to the van with their pints of ale!
This is a fab place to sink a few beers and enjoy the lovely, friendly atmosphere. Jay is a great host and has built something pretty cool for the Mill Hillers.
It is actually February right? We work with the lovely Gaynor and her team on The Beast events in February and November and it's always cold... usually freezing actually. So, somebody tell me how on earth we're wearing t-shirts this year! Not complaining though, it was bloomin' lovely!
The morning got off to a foggy start, but by the start of the race it lifted to reveal sunshine and a weird warmth. Thanks to all of our Wolfy regulars for dropping by and to the new Wolf Fans who came to see us. The fella in the middle of the photo was this year's race winner, he had a well deserved refuel at The Wolf Hut!
